More adventures on (and off of) Ebay

Back in 2004 I bought a Homelite three tool battery powered combo – a hedge trimmer, tree limb trimmer, and a electric chain saw.  These came with two 18 volt batteries and charger.  Well, they batteries lasted around 4 years and quit holding a charge.

I went to Home Depot where I bought the set but they don’t carry them anymore.  I did a little research on the Internet and found that they are now  Ryobi brand.  Since they aren’t in the Home Depot store I went to Ebay to see if I could find some.

There were plenty of the batteries for sale, but the prices are pretty hefty, along the lines of $40 plus shipping.  However, there was one auction that just happened to be about to end in which a pair of batteries were going in the $60 to $70 range.  I jumped in but got out bid just shy of $70.

I went back to the Internet to see if anyone was selling the batteries for anything close to that price, but most were up over $100 for a pair.

Then, I saw a lower price and clicked on it.  To my surprise, it took me to Home Depot’s website.  Guess what, they are selling the same two batteries for $58!

I made my order and have to admit I’m tempted to buy a bunch of them and then auction them off on Ebay!
